Harvard T.H. Chan School
of Public Health

The Department of Genetics and Complex Diseases at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is a leader in their field and a pacesetter for groundbreaking work that aspires to advance human health around the world. Looking to rebrand the department with a more distinctive and relevant look, GCD engaged FGI to create a new identity and branding system that effectively works across all print and digital platforms.

Collaborating closely with our client and complying with Harvard’s brand guidelines, FGI created a new mark for GCD that aligns with HSPH through typography, color and form. The result is a unique brand symbol that combines the iconic Harvard shield and a stylized DNA strand representing energy, molecular biology and science.

Following the logo development, FGI was asked to redesign GCD’s collateral communications and publications, to include event materials, seminar announcements, posters, folders, banners and a digital newsletter. Throughout the branding process and over time, FGI’s knowledge of GCD has evolved to a well-rounded understanding of the organization’s aesthetic tastes, style and culture, passion for research and discovery and progressive outlook. The result is communications that are bold, modern, compelling and support the ongoing and meaningful work of GCD and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
